The idea behind iCatch was thought up while having a discussion with fisherman from Padstow who made us aware that there is a general dislike to submitting shellfish returns on a monthly basis throughout the inshore fishing industry.
It’s not that fisherman don’t want to submit the data, quite the opposite – they are 100% in favour of data being collected, processed and used in a way which will protect and guarantee their industry for future generations however the method of collection can often be time-consuming and stressful.
The iCatch app allows fisherman to record their daily shellfish catch in less than 60 seconds through their smart phones and then, at the end of the month, generate their shellfish returns and send them via email to the authorities at the tap of a button.
You can find out more about how the app works on the How it Works page. I’m sure you’ll have questions about the iCatch app so we’ve also added a Frequently asked Questions page which will hopefully answer some/all of the questions you might have.
You can also keep up to date via our Twitter account @icatch_app
